Cartoons Won: Aquaman, S'Winter, Ghost Truck and Acceptance

Week Three's looking up. (Though not for Tron),

John DiMaggio!
Batman: The Brave and the Bold
Episode 3: "Evil Under the Sea!"

This show just keeps getting better and better. This was just a really fun episode of this show. I really do like hope it's returning to the lighter side of Batman and this episode is a perfect example of how well that can work. Aquaman is a great character here. He adds a lot of humor to the show and is a welcome partner for Batman. This episode revolves are Batman and Aquaman teaming up to stop Aquaman's brother Orm and Black Manta for destroying Atlantis. There isn't really a ton to say about this episode. It was just a lot of fun and proves that we really need an Aquaman movie. I mean, here, he fistfights sharks. He uppercuts a shark.  Batman gets in on the shark punching too. It's bad-ass. Overall, a strong episode of a strong show. "Evil Under the Sea" gets 5 stars out of 6.

Where the hell is that pole going?
God, this is a kid's show!
Phineas and Ferb
Episode 3a/3b: "The Magnificent Few/S'Winter"

Again, it's all uphill this week. This also happens to be the best Phineas and Ferb set I've seen this week. Both episodes are good, but the better of the two is the first one. In "The Magnificent Few" Doofenshmirtz releases a plague of termites, causing a stampede of cattle which Phineas, Ferb and Isabella must stop. The western parody is a bit downplayed in this one, but it still gets some great laughs. A scene involving a wolf puppet is particularly funny. Though the best joke of the whole week comes when the cattle accidentally get themselves trapped on a cliff. They all just barely make it, except one cow accidentally bumps another off. It's hilarious. The second story, "S'Winter" is also good. In it, Phineas and Ferb use a snow cone machine to create a mountain to ski on. It's got less jokes than the first episode, but a pretty good song and overall, it was just a lot of fun. Plus, a gag about a chocolate Perry (It makes sense in context) also gets a big laugh. Overall, the best episode of this set. "The Magnificent Few/S'Winter" gets 5 and a half stars out of 6.

Nice outline.
Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated
Episode 3: "The Secret of the Ghost Rig"

Not a bad episode at all. Though, not one of the best either. In this episode, the Scooby Gang find themselves going after a mysterious Ghost Truck that is running people off the road. Again, I would like to know more about the overarching mystery and this episode is still just a monster-of-the-week kinda deal, but I can't really be surprised. This is a kid's show and only the third episode out of twenty-six. Still, it is a pretty good episode. The Ghost Truck is a great monster and the animation on it is very good. The mystery is fun and the culprit isn't all that surprising, but it's is a fun one. All around, not a bad episode at all. "The Secret of the Ghost Rig" gets 4 and a half stars out of 6.

What a great contrast. Blue and green and purple and
blue and blue and blue...
Tron: Uprising
Episode 3: "The Renegade, Part 2"

Yes, this is the best episode of the show so far. See, it succeeds by swapping out the badness of the first two episodes with genericness and boredom. Hey, it's a step in the right direction. Well, maybe more of a shuffle, but you get the picture. In this episode, Beck and Cutler, who were pitted against each other in the cliffhanger, refuse to fight. But, they are forced to fight, which they do. Cutler's about to win, but he refuses to finish Beck off, which makes Beck the winner... somehow. Anyway, Beck has to come back and save the day and blah blah blah. I still can't believe a whiny prick like Beck is expected to be the big hero. He barely does anything and needs to get his ass saved multiple times. In just this episode! Still,  I'll take boring over terrible anyday. As long as it doesn't last. "The Renegade, Part 2" gets 3 stars out of 6.
