Pun With Trailers: May 3 to May 10, 2013

This week, aliens grab a pint, Marvel gets animated and
George Clooney gets lost in space!
(Sorry it's late)

Ender's Game Trailer 1: I have read the book and I can already tell I'm probably not going to like the movie. The trailer doesn't show a lot, which for a first trailer isn't terribly surprising, but what it does show just looks generic. The cast is good and Kingsley's face tattoo looks great-ish, but the whole thing just looks like a sci-fi movie you'd watch on Disney Channel. It doesn't help that Ford seems to be phoning it in too. Ender's Game is released on November 1, 2013.

The World's End Trailer 1: Hell yes! I think saying that this is my most anticipated movie of the summer isn't that much of a stretch. Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz are still two of the funniest comedies out there and some of my all-time favorite movies. This look fun too. I love the alien twist and how this time Pegg and Frost aren't exactly friends. The cast looks great, fence-jumping returns and it just looks funny. Which is important for a comedy. Can't wait. The World's End is released on August 23, 2013.

Captain Phillips Trailer 1: Oops. Kinda forgot about this one. Based around the story of actual Captain Richard Phillips, whose ship was taken over by pirates, the film looks to be the standard Greengrass affair. It's not necessarily bad, but I can't say it get's me extremely excited to see the movie. Hanks looks good as usually, but the story, while true, just seems a little too generic to be interesting. Have to wait and see. Captain Phillips is released on October 11, 2013.

Big Hero 6 Teaser: Okay, not much to really talk about with this trailer. Really beautiful looking shot of Disney's version of Tokyo. But the movie itself is pretty interesting. Since Disney bought Marvel, it's should be no surprise that the idea to turn one of Marvel's comics into an animated movie was talked about. Now, Disney is making this film, based around an anime-inspired superhero team. While no word as to how it will relate to the live action universe, rumor has it it will feature some easter eggs. Only time will tell though. Big Hero 6 is released on November 7, 2014.

Gravity Trailer 1: I'm in. There isn't a whole lot of original sci-fi films going around right now, so the fact that this one seems pretty damn cool is exciting. The film was meant to be released last fall, but it doesn't seem to show signs of trouble. Yet. Still, the premise of what happens when you are really forever alone, especially floating out into space, is a great one and it's safe to say this movie is now on my radar. Gravity is released on October 4, 2013.
