Marvel Madness!

VIA First Showing
Ever since Marvel Studios wrapped up it's "Tier One" movies with The Avengers, the question has been up in the air as to what films will make up the "Tier Two" films. We already known next year will see Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 and that 2014 will show off Captain America 2, but Marvel has already said that two other films will be released before is how rumored 2015 Avengers 2.
It has been all but confirmed (With confirmation likely coming at Comic-Con) that the second 2014 film will be Guardians of the Galaxy, a lesser-known comic with ties to Thanos. The second unknown movie has been up in the air as of now. Rumors of a S.H.I.E.L.D. movie, a new Hulk and Black Panther, but right now, the front runner seems to be Edgar Wright's Ant-Man.

Edgar Wright is one of my favorite directors, having directed the Simon Pegg and Nick Frost classics Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. And it apparently appears that he filmed a test reel for Ant-Man, in order to see how he would look on film. Directing duties will have to wait though, as he is next directing the (High-anticipated, in my opinion) At World's End, his next collaboration with Pegg and Frost.
Other news is about Disney's plans to make an animated film based off of Marvel's Japanese influenced Big Hero 6. It's unknown if it will tie into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but still, it'll be cool to see. Man. Marvel's been busy.

"Man on a Ledge" Review

In this movie... I honest don't remember what happened. This is Man on a Ledge!

"Brave" Review

In this movie, a princess gets to marry... herself? This is Brave!

NOTE: DO TO A VERY WEIRD GLITCH, YOU WILL HAVE TO HIGHLIGHT THE REVIEW               TO READ IT. COMPUTERS SUCK SOMETIMES.

State of the Cinema: June 18 to June 25

Cinema Won Posts:
- Journey 2: The Mysterious Island Review
- The Grey Review
- Monsters University Trailer
- Taken 2 Trailer

Extra News:
- The trailer for Alex Cross was released this week and, unsurprisingly, it looks awful. The movie itself does look too bad and I'm sure the story's fine, but the terrible idea to replace Idris Elba with Tyler Perry, who, not surprisingly, doesn't seem to have the whole "action star" thing down yet.

Extra Reviews:
- Gremlins- Over the past, week, I was planning on doing a full review of Gremlins, but time just got away from me. Anyway, this movie rocks. This is something many of you probably already knew, but this movie is really good. Gizmo may very well be one of the cutest things ever. And the Gremlins themselves are the right amount of funny and scary. A great movie all around. Gremlins gets 6 stars of of 6.

- Gremlins 2: The New Batch- Yes, once I saw the first one I did track the second one down. And, even though I have heard all the complaints that this one is toned down, I liked it. Admittedly the movie is much goofier then the first, but it's not like the first didn't have a sense of humor. It does get surprisingly meta sometimes (The Hulk Hogan scene is one of the best WTF moments I've ever seen). A solid, though inferior sequel. Gremlins 2: The New Batch gets 5 stars of of 6.

- Easy A- Regardless of how I feel about this movie, it will always be remembered as the movie that sent the fantastic Emma Stone to stardom. Emma Stone is a great actress, and for the most part she makes this movie. Without here, it's still a very funny movie, but with her it just gets better. She brings heart to a role that could have easily been overdone. However, the rest of the movie is predictable and gets a little too dramatic at the end. Easy A gets 5 stars out of 6.

Box Office Will Return Next Week (Sorry I'm really busy)

Speaking of Liam Neeson...

After reviewing The Grey, I can safely say that that film has become my favorite Liam Neeson movie, a titled previously held by 2008's Taken, a smart, brutal action film, which sequel comes out later this year and  the trailer for it is out now.

"Journey 2: The Mysterious Island" Review

While watching this all I could think of was the episode of Community where Abed went insane while making a documentary and Luis Guzman guest starred. That episode was better than this movie. This is Journey 2: The Mysterious Island!

Turtles Down

News is just coming out and it seems like the already-having-a-bad-year Paramount Pictures has shutdown production of Michael Bay's controversial Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot.

"Safe House" Review

In an action movie, never trust anything that's called "safe". It usually isn't. This is Safe House!

"This Means War" Review (With a Little "Chronicle" Thrown In)

Sometimes, it's all about the execution. This is This Means War! Also, just a quick note before I start this review. This is June which for me, a high school student means I'm about to become swamped with all kinds of last minute projects and reviews for my finals, as well as a two-week long Drivers Ed class, so I apologize in advance if updates for this month become slow.
